Alessandro Giunta

Alessandro Giunta, from Verona, studied with Giovanni Puddu at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena and at the Accademia Internazionale “Incontri col Maestro” in Imola, where he attended the Master’s Degree Courses in Guitar, graduating with top honors (110/110 cum laude) and special academic distinction. At the Chigiana Academy in Siena, he obtained several diplomas of merit, while in Imola he also benefited from the guidance of Marcin Dylla, Matteo Mela, Arturo Tallini, and Giulio Tampalini, as well as Alain Meunier and Marco Zuccarini for chamber music.

After earning a degree in International Cooperation and Development from Sapienza University of Rome and obtaining his Academic Diploma in guitar with highest honors from the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome, Alessandro — an interpreter with broad cultural interests — began refining his methodological approach to instrumental teaching while pursuing an active concert career. He has performed both as a soloist and as a chamber musician in numerous Italian cities, appearing in festivals and concert series such as the Imola Summer Festival, Chigiana International Festival, Settimana di Teodorico, Chianti Classico Experience, Festiv’Alba, Festival delle Due Città, and Passione in Musica, collaborating with important organizations such as Amici della Musica Verona. He has performed in prestigious venues including the Teatro Mazzacorati 1763, Palazzo Chigi-Saracini, Società Letteraria di Verona, Palazzo Monsignani-Sassatelli, Mausoleo di Teodorico, Castello La Leccia, Rocca Sforzesca di Imola, Museo di Santa Caterina, Sala Sant’Antonio Abate in Perugia, and the Abbazia di Santa Lucia.

In 2024, he won first prize at the Concorso Internazionale Musicale “Città di Belluno”, the absolute first prize with a score of 100/100 together with the special “Sante Vannini” Prize for best interpretation at the Concorso “Jan Langosz – Giuseppe Fricelli”, and the absolute first prize at the Concorso Lutzemberger. He was selected to participate in the project Giovani Talenti Musicali Italiani nel Mondo, an initiative promoted in collaboration with the Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale and the CIDIM – Comitato Nazionale Italiano Musica.

On February 28, 2025, his debut album Strings not stripes was released by Da Vinci Publishing, distributed worldwide and made available through major digital retailers such as Feltrinelli and IBS. The album received significant media attention from outlets including Rai Radio 3, Brescia Oggi, Verona Sette News, and Fanfare Magazine, where Colin Clarke wrote: “Musically, for me this even tops Julian Bream.” In April 2025, Alessandro was interviewed live on national radio on Rai Radio 3 by Guido Barbieri.

In 2025, he won the absolute first prize and the special Mousiké Prize at the Concorso Musicale Nazionale Lodovico Agostini, the absolute first prize with a score of 100/100 at the Perusia Harmonica, and first prize at the Concorso Internazionale Città di Massa. In 2026, he won the absolute first prize with a score of 100/100 at the Concorso Musicale Europeo Sfermusic, as well as first prize at the Amigdala International Music Competition and the Swiss International Music Competition.

His attention to the original guitar repertoire, meticulous philological research into Johann Sebastian Bach’s lute works, and deep interest in contemporary music all contribute to making Alessandro Giunta an exceptionally eclectic musician. In his concerts, audiences may hear him perform works by the leading guitarist-composer of the First Viennese School, Mauro Giuliani, as well as contemporary masterpieces such as Serenata per un satellite by Bruno Maderna.
