Pier Luca Montessoro

Born in Turin in 1961, Pier Luca Montessoro is a Full Professor of Computer Systems at the University of Udine and a leading figure in the Italian academic and technological landscape. He graduated with honors in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin and has gained extensive experience as a teacher and researcher in Italy and the United States, collaborating with prestigious institutions such as the National Research Council and Digital Equipment Corporation (Compaq).

His career combines scientific research, technological innovation, and dissemination. He has authored over eighty publications, several patents, and open source projects used in universities and schools. Author of the reference textbook “Local Networks: From Cabling to Internetworking” and numerous video and multimedia courses, he is a leading figure in teaching computer networks, cybersecurity, and distributed systems.

In addition to his academic work, Montessoro has held important institutional roles at the University of Udine, contributing to the development of IT and telematics infrastructures nationwide. He has organized international scientific events and served as a technical consultant for audiovisual and computer piracy cases.

Pier Luca Montessoro is a singer-songwriter and composer registered with the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers (SIAE), and has authored two albums of original songs, which are distributed across all major digital platforms. He combines engineering skills with artistic sensibility, with a particular focus on the application of multimedia technologies in professional music and audio/video production. His music, characterized by intense lyrics and refined melodies, draws inspiration from the great tradition of Italian songwriting, with forays into swing, blues, and melodic rock.

Over the course of his career, he has conceived and staged numerous artistic projects: the concert “Fragili Nuvole Inquiete,” the musical “T.I.P. – Terra, Inferno e Paradiso,” the folk project “Irish Dream,” the acoustic duo “Vox Cordis,” and the live group “Doppia Identità.” In his performances, he alternates original compositions with reinterpretations of famous songs, always with meticulous arrangements and an authentic interpretive approach.

He has performed in festivals and theaters, receiving awards and recognition, including the “Donne d’Amore 2024” award presented by Maestro Vince Tempera. His work combines writing, composition, and performance, with a constant search for sounds that can move and engage audiences.
In 2025, he was a finalist for the prestigious Lucio Dalla award.
